Myrtle Beach Five Star Restaurants

Every Myrtle Beach local is constantly asked which restaurants have the best seafood, the best steakhouse, and always popular, the best seafood buffet. Myrtle Beach has around 1200 restaurants, and there are good ones in every category. If you want a general restaurant directory, see our other website about all the Myrtle Beach Restaurants.

On this page, several of us have gotten together and picked out our personal favorite FIVE STAR restaurants in Myrtle Beach. These are the best of the best. Most are pricey, and all are worth the price. Whether you want steak, crablegs, Brazilian, or something as odd as "ostrich", you won't go wrong with these:

Aspen Grill
5101 North Kings Highway
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-449-9191   MAP and REVIEWS

This establishment is a throw-back to a gentler way of living. Live music performed nightly on a baby grand piano over cocktails or dinner. The cuisine is definitely classic steakhouse, featuring prime steaks and “local” seafood. Artwork by local artists is displayed for your pleasure and is available for purchase. The large private dining room makes this a great place to host an office Christmas party. **Note: This is possibly the best restaurant in Myrtle Beach. They actually serve edible flowers in the salad! (some kind of orchid, they say)

Barons Steaks and Spirits
9650 N. Kings Highway (Galleria Shopping Ctr.)
Myrtle Beach, SC 29572
843-497-5200   MAP and REVIEWS

The restaurant is intimate with a massive wooden bar reminding one of a neighborhood dining establishment in New York City or Chicago. Boasting the best steaks on the beach, we can attest that not only are the steaks sumptuous, but so is everything else on the menu. Try the Filet Fenway, "A succulent 8oz. tenderloin and crab cake atop a grilled portabella mushroom cap, finished with a creamy crab Veloute."
Oh my....

Bonefish Grill
7401 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572

103 Highway 17 S, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582
843-280-6638   MAP and REVIEWS

8703 Highway 17 Bypass South, Surfside Beach, SC 29575
843-215-4374   MAP and REVIEWS>

Three (3) locations popular with locals and visitors. A nationwide restaurant chain whose parent company also owns Carrabbas Italian Grill. Fresh seafood and chicken expertly prepared. Famous for their Bang-Bang Shrimp appetizer, this certainly is worth a visit just for this tasty treat.

Brentwood Restaurant and Wine Bar
4269 Luck Avenue
Little River, SC 29566
843-249-2601   MAP and REVIEWS

Established in a restored 1910 Victorian style house in the northern section of the Grand Strand, this Restaurant offers French-style cuisine based on fresh local products expertly prepared for everyone’s enjoyment; even those watching their diet. Also offered is a wonderful tapas menu in their upstairs wine bar. This is one of our favorite 5 star restaurants. Calabash Seafood Hut
1125 River Rd
Calabash, NC 28467
910-579-6723   MAP and REVIEWS

Although technically not in Myrtle Beach per se, Calabash is only a few miles north on 17 right past Little River, Sc. And for the best fried seafood at the best possible price, you can't go wrong driving there. The flounder here is the only place that rivals "Hoskins" in Ocean Drive, and the fried oysters here are the best anywhere. Special mentions: Anyone can get a "Child's Plate" which is under $10 and contains, fish, shrimp, and oysters. It's plenty for all but the biggest appetite.

Capt. Dave’s Dockside Restaurant
Highway 17 Business
Murrells Inlet, SC 29576
843-651-5850   MAP and REVIEWS

Whether dining indoors or out, the views overlooking the marshland of Murrells Inlet are amazing. Superbly prepared fresh “local” fish and seafood are complimented by a few entrees for the landlubber. Sandwiches and salads are offered for those preferring lighter fare.

Carrabba’s Italian Grill
6803 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572
(843) 467-2600   MAP and REVIEWS

1015 Highway 17 N, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582
843-281-9222   MAP and REVIEWS

511 Courtfield Dr, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576
843-652-3800   MAP and REVIEWS

Three (3) locations popular with locals and visitors, a nationwide restaurant chain whose parent company also owns Bonefish Grill. Flavorful authentic Italian dishes from traditional pastas to seafood and beef are offered. They also feature a gluten-free menu, diabetic nutritional analysis and a popular carry-out menu. Excellent Italian selections and homemade bread for your enjoyment. Famous for its "Sirloin Marsala", but the manicotti and lasagne are as good as it gets.

Collectors Café & Gallery
7740 N. Kings Highway
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-449-9370   MAP and REVIEWS

During the daytime this establishment is a European-style coffeehouse and lounge which transforms itself after dark to an upscale Mediterranean restaurant. Local artisans display their handiwork in this 6000 sq. ft. setting for patrons to admire, and they are available for purchase. Steaks and seafood dishes are excellent. Atmosphere is even better!

Firehouse Subs in Myrtle Beach, SC

Firehouse Subs
560 Highway 17 North - Ocean Drive
North Myrtle Beach, SC (Walmart Shopping Cntr)
843-663-3473   Map and Reviews

1211 38th Ave North
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-626-9111   Map and Reviews

5407 Dick Pond Rd
Myrtle Beach, SC (in Surfside @ 544)
843-215-3473   Map and Reviews

Ok - This is not a five star restaurant, that's obvious. It's a sub shop and sandwich store. BUT...it's the BEST sub shop you will ever step foot in. The bread is toasted, the meat is steamed. You pick the toppings or order it from the menu. It's as reasonably priced as Subway, but oh, so much better! Tips- Choose the New York Steamer and order it with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. And if you like barbeque, during the summer they have a special limited time pulled pork sandwich that tastes like nothing you've ever had before and will set your taste buds a'singing. It's a must try, ordered just like advertised. It sounds strange, but they have created a masterpiece. I promise you, you will enjoy a meal at Firehouse almost as much as that $25 steak you get the next time!

Flamingo Steak & Seafood Grill
7100 N Kings Hwy
Myrtle Beach, SC 29572
843- 449-5388   MAP and REVIEWS

Locally owned along with its sister restaurant, Cagney's, Flamingos offers a relaxed dining atmosphere with a beautiful full service bar. Specialties include a fried lobster bite appetizer and excellent steaks or seafood. Salads come with most entrees, and it's a mouth-watering treat! Tip- Order the Delmonico (ribeye) Steak, asparagus, and bernaise sauce. Awesome!

Greg Norman’s Australian Grille
4930 Highway 17 South (Barefoot Landing)
North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582
843-361-0000   MAP and REVIEWS

Casual and spacious indoor and outdoor dining overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway with nightly live entertainment on the patio. "Down Under" is in reference to Greg Norman's home of Australia, and not to the preparation method of the superb upscale dining. Just about the best steak in Myrtle Beach. If you're gutsy, you can order ostrich or alligator, too.

The waterfront deck with its view of the Waterway and marina is as good as it gets, but they have recently applied a ridiculous "no smoking on the property" (even outside) rule that has turned me away for good. If you smoke, you might as well not eat here, or be prepared to walk half a block away from the restaurant to light up. This used to be my favorite restaurant, but I will probably never go back because of their attitude.

Gulf Stream Café
1536 S Waccamaw Dr
Murrells Inlet (Garden City), SC 29576
843-651-8808   MAP and REVIEWS

Boasting to be the only restaurant on the Grand Strand to have views of both the Atlantic Ocean on one side of the restaurant and Murrells Inlet on the other, we concur that the views are sensational, especially of the sunsets. Great seafood platters and the filet mignon is amazing. They have a live band on the rooftop bar and $15 ayce oyster roasts during the fall. Reasonable prices and reservations required during the summer. This is a very popular place. Bring your camera!

Hoskins Restaurant
405 Main St (Ocean Drive Section)
North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582
843-249-2014   MAP and REVIEWS

See Hoskins on Facebook!

While this may not be a 5-star atmosphere, it's a definite 5-star menu. One of the local's best kept secrets, many people may take Hoskins for a typical "diner" and not bother. But if you're looking for local fried seafood, it doesn't come any better - especially the thick, tender, mouthwatering flounder filets they are famous for. They also have the large shrimp, which is seldom found in all the "Calabash" style places we have. Locals know the best lunch deal in town is the blue-plate special at Hoskins every day. Choose out of 3 meats, a long list of home cooked veggies, and tea, for $7.50. Craving Mama's cooking? This will come close! We highly recommend giving Hoskins a regular visit.
Hoskins Restaurant in Ocean Drive

J. Edwards Great Ribs and More
2300 South Kings Highway
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-626-9986   MAP and REVIEWS

For over thirty-five (35) years this restaurant has been serving up platefuls of large and reasonably priced meals. They are known for their early bird menu and the seniors flock to it every evening. Their specialties are great prime rib, steaks, and BBQ ribs. Their atmosphere is five-star, but the prices are not!

Joe’s Bar & Grill
810 Conway St. (Across from Barefoot Landing)
North Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-272-4666   MAP and REVIEWS

A remodeled rustic home overlooking a saltwater marsh offering casual dining both inside and outdoors on a screened in porch. A favorite pastime is watching the wildlife coming to dine on leftover bread from the restaurant. Marvelously prepared items from fish, seafood, chicken, steaks and pasta. They do not deep-fry anything! The local's favorite is the shrimp and grits. Again, one of the best steaks you'll find anywhere, a free appetizer crab dip, and really good side dishes to compliment the main course. Best Bernaise sauce in Myrtle Beach! They also have an outside bar and deck that is smoker-friendly. They get an extra star for that!

Joes Bar & Grill Outdoor Deck

Landry’s Seafood House
1312 Celebrity Circle (Broadway at the Beach)
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-444-1010   MAP and REVIEWS

A very busy and popular dining spot because of location and the food is terrific. Offering seafood in the Gulf Coast-style tradition with steaks, chicken and pasta for the landlubbers. Landry’s started in 1947 in Louisiana and has expanded nationwide. Being at Broadway at the Beach is a big plus. *Tip - try the spring roll appetizer. It will stop you cold with a "WOW!"

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
1405 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-626-8856   MAP and REVIEWS

4701 Highway 17 South, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582
843-272-7530   MAP and REVIEWS

Two (2) very popular locations to satisfy the Italian lover in all of us, the parent company also owns Red Lobster. The secret to their success is excellently prepared affordable items, and an ever-changing menu to eliminate boredom and tease the taste buds. Again, the food and ambience is near five-star, but the prices are very reasonable. Great for families and always consistently good!

Parson’s Table
4305 Mccorsley Ave (Hwy 17)
Little River, SC 29566
843-249-3702   MAP and REVIEWS

The main dining room of this restaurant was built in 1885 and served as a church until 1952. The building was relocated to its present location and enhanced with stained glass and other items from various churches and buildings in the Carolinas. The traditional steak or seafood cuisine is award-winning and extremely popular with locals and returning visitors. They seldom advertise and are not right at the beach, yet they are always full. That tells you a lot!

Red Lobster
10000 Hwy 17 North, Myrtle Beach, SC, 29572
(North Myrtle/Restaurant Row)
843-497-7761   MAP and REVIEWS

1230 North Retail Court, Myrtle Beach, SC, 29577
(Coastal Grande Mall)
843-445-9786   MAP and REVIEWS

Two (2) locations to satisfy the seafood lover. The parent company also owns the Olive Garden Italian Restaurants. There are so many combinations of seafood to be enjoyed, it boggles the mind and makes a selection for lunch or dinner problematic. But everyone walks away with a smile. It may be a chain, but it is one of the best seafood restaurants in existance. Join their website club and get constant coupons and specials. If you want lobster, this is the place. (crablegs, too!) www.RedLobster.com

Rioz – Brazilian Steakhouse
2920 Hollywood Dr
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-839-0777   MAP and REVIEWS

A dining tradition from the pampas of Southern Brazil, this is an all-you-care to eat restaurant. A large and lovely salad bar boasting a HUGE array of items plus roving servers offering fifteen (15) selections of beef, lamb, pork and poultry deliciously seasoned and roasted over an open-fire and carved tableside. A meat-lover's paradise, and priced accordingly. ($35 plus) There are several smaller copy-cats here now, but Rioz still stands alone for the best Brazilian Steakhouse in Myrtle Beach. Just come hungry!

Sea Blue Restaurant
501 Highway 17 North
North Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-249-8800   MAP and REVIEWS

We believe the following statement best describes this restaurant and was taken from their own website. The items are impeccably prepared and melt in ones mouth.
“We strive to use only the best of the best ingredients in our dishes. All of our beef is USDA Prime grade or above. Our produce is organically grown. These ultra high quality ingredients do come at a price. We may appear to be expensive but we believe these superior ingredients are a valued expense and a rarity in North Myrtle Beach. We sacrifice our profit margin to offer these exceptional items to our locals, tourists, and regular patrons at an affordable price.”... They also offer Kobe beef sometimes, and have nice outdoor dining in the summer, to please the smoking visitors.

Sea Captain’s House Restaurant
3002 N. Ocean Blvd.
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-448-8082   MAP and REVIEWS

The original building was erected in 1930. In 1954 it was turned into a guesthouse. In 1962 it was established as a restaurant and has undergone several renovations. The restaurant is open seven days a week serving southern hospitality with breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has become a favorite hot spot for friends and family to join together in enjoying quality prepared and served menu items. Famous for the best She-Crab Soup on the Grand Strand, and traditional fried or broiled seafood. One of the few true oceanfront restaurants in Myrtle Beach

Thoroughbreds Chophouse & Seafood Grille
9706 Highway 17 North (Restaurant Row)
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
843-497-2636   MAP and REVIEWS

Fine dining since 1988, Thoroughbreds has set the bar high for excellence in service and quality in expertly prepared beef, veal, fowl and seafood. Appetizer samples include escargot, lamb chops, scallops, and fried duck, all prepared in exquisitely unusual ways. Superb aged steaks start in the low $30's, and include a salad and vegetables. Pricey, but truly a special-occasion-restaurant to remember.

In general when choosing a Myrtle Beach five-star restaurant, look for these extras:

Outdoor Dining
Live Entertainment
Waterfront Views
Oceanfront Views
The best bread, sauces, and side items
True charcoal or fire grill for steaks
Seafood that is breaded and not battered
Less advertisement and more locally recommended
